Reading Notes over Narayan's Ramayana - Part A

This weeks reading I read part A of Narayan's Ramayana, I chose to read this version of the Ramayana because of how it was chronologically written and because it doesn't use any any old fashioned language which makes it easier for me to comprehend. I also really enjoyed having the reading guide for this option as well. For the special sacrifice that Dasharatha obtains rice, I could change it from rice to cookies that he must feed to his wives so that one can become pregnant. I liked that Thataka was once a god but was changed into a demon after her family's terrible behavior. I might change Rama's weapon to a supernatural knife from a bow and arrow. I could also change the obstacles that Rama must complete to win Sita's hand in marriage. Perhaps a Shiva creates an maze that Rama must escape from instead. I like how this story has a curse in it and I definitely want to keep that as well as the exile because it makes for a nice twist.

Growth Mindset: Cats

Using the randomizer I found a couple of cats that I really liked either because they were cute, funny, relatable, or all of the above! The first one was adorable and very accurate. I've found the more I write the better I get at it, especially when it comes to my personal statements. The second meme made me laugh. I've always been a goal setter and while it can be sad to miss your goal it's good to even get close to reaching it because there is always next time! Cat Meme 1 Cat Meme 2

Reading Notes: Narayan's Ramayana, Section C

This section picks up where B left off, Sita being captured by Ravana. I like that he came to her disguised as a hermit, it reminded me of when the evil queen came to snow white to get her to eat the poisoned apple. I think it would be really fun to make this into a sort of fairytale story, since Ravana can transfigure himself into different creatures. I could have him transform into a dragon and have Rama slay the "dragon" in order to get Sita back. Surgiva could be his trusted ally after finding Sita's jewelry. It could turn into an epic adventure where they cross an ocean, among other things in order to finally get to Sita. I really like this idea of a fairytale retelling of Rama saving Sita.
